Experience
Software EngineerAlliander
Working in one of the many (15+) scrum teams building solutions to optimise energy flow within the electricity grid of Alliander. We are building various solutions to prevent the grid from being overloaded and used more efficiently by better utilising infrastructure available in the grid. As a team we built and maintained 2 IT products (10 microservices) and 5 libraries. These solutions are built in Java with a full continuous delivery pipeline (fully automated test suite) and deployed through GitOps on Kubernetes. All communication between services goes either through Kafka or REST api’s. Next to my role as a software engineer and technical team lead I also worked a lot together with the software architects to improve the quality and stability of our services.
Noteworthy technologies used: Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, REST, Docker, Openshift / Kubernetes, Tekton and Microservices.
Software EngineerDUO
Working in one of the 4 Scrum teams within one of the divisions of DUO I mainly focused on the backed side of the platform. Working on integrations with third parties and systems to process data into the platform and making other data available to those third parties and systems. Occasionally I helped out with some frontend features in Angular. In collaborating with the architects and the DevOps teams I helped improve the platform leveraging experiences I had in previous projects.
Noteworthy technologies used: Java, Spring Boot, Docker, Camunda and Microservices.
Software Architect / Engineer & DevOps Engineer theFactor.e
2018: Started and managed our DevOps department within theFactor.e combining strengths of software engineers and the operations team. Focusing on infrastructure (AWS, Azure, on premise), automation, integrations, writing custom software solutions and consultancy. I also kept working on engineering software solutions mainly focused on JAVA, Python, Node.js and GO.
2015: Moved from a developer role into a software architect role designing and building large scale platforms and JAVA applications (Spring Boot). I primarily focused on the bigger and the more complex cases within the company where we were building mainly microservices for customers.
2009: Started as a PHP Developer building web applications with TYPO3 and Zend Framework. I also worked on multiple projects building Android applications for customers like Noorderslag, ABN Amro Markets and others. Together with other colleagues we've set up the company's first cloud infrastructure. We build multiple platforms ranging from small platforms to shared platforms for multiple customers to somewhat larger standalone clusters for bigger customers like Goldman Sachs.
